Custom Home Building: Working with a Health and Safety Plan

Regardless of what step of the process our home building projects are in, we want you to know, we can keep the project moving. Even if you are just starting the process, we have plans in place to be able to start and continue the process so we can get you into your new custom home.

For the health and safety of everyone, we ask that our employees, homeowners and subcontractors continue to follow the recommended steps to combat COVID-19. These simple steps will help us maintain a safe working environment.

  1. Maintain social distancing by keeping six feet between yourself and others
  2. Wash hands frequently with soap and water or use an alcohol-based sanitizer
  3. Make sure to cover coughs and sneezes
  4. Avoid touching your face
  5. Stay home if you feel unwell, have a fever or any other illness symptoms

1. Utilizing Pinterest

If we are starting a new home project or continuing with a home that has been in progress, Pinterest is a good tool to use. By utilizing Pinterest, you can get ideas of what you like, share it with us and we can then work with our vendors to find products that meet your requests. If we are just beginning your custom home project this is a great way to start. For example, you can pin your ideas, share them with us and we can use these ideas to start creating a budget for your project. If we are in the process of building your home and all final decisions are not made yet, you can share your ideas with us to keep the project moving.

Here are a few easy steps for using Pinterest:

  1. Create a new Board on Pinterest
  2. Share the board with us – (@postbuilders – Rachael Post)
  3. Pin ideas to your board
    1. Home Exterior – siding, trim, windows, front door, etc
    2. Home Interior – flooring, trim, paint colors, fireplace, lighting, etc
    3. Kitchen Ideas – cabinets, countertops, faucets, lighting, knobs/pulls
    4. Bathroom Ideas – vanity cabinets/tops, faucets, lighting, knobs/pulls, showers, tubs

2. By Appointment Meetings

Thankfully construction falls in the category of an “Essential Business”. Because of this, we still have the ability to work with many of our vendors. Unfortunately most of our vendors are closed to the public. Because we have good working relationships with our vendors, we have to ability to set up appointments to bring our homeowners in for meetings and to view and discuss options.

By utilizing Pinterest prior to our meetings we can narrow down ideas and options prior to having our in-person meetings. Thus, making our meetings efficient while keeping the amount of time needed to a minimum. Our meetings/appointments will be used to select options for both price estimate purposes as well as final planning and ordering.

2. Limiting People On-Site

At all times we will attempt to keep the number of people on-site to a minimum, that includes homeowners, Post Builders employees as well as subcontractors and vendors. We will thoroughly evaluate our project needs as we plan our weekly schedule to avoid any overlapping of contractors, while maintaining the forward motion of the project to keep everything running smoothly and on-time.

Our goals are to maintain the health and safety of our employees and homeowners while providing the same level of service and quality of work our customers have come to expect.
